10 Wrestlers That The Undertaker Couldn't Get Over
9. Mark Henry
Mark Henry was over at various points in his career (most notably during his Hall of Pain run), but when he locked horns with The Undertaker at WrestleMania 22, he was a midcarder that no one really bought as a threat to end The Streak (even though behind the scenes Vince McMahon seriously considered the move). At Royal Rumble a few months earlier, Henry lost to Kurt Angle in a title match that remains one of the most boring main events of the millennium. It should have been enough to push him back to the middle of the card.
Management had a different plan in mind. They seemed to hope that a monster vs. monster match with The Undertaker at WrestleMania could perhaps bring Henry to that next level. But just like the Angle match, the two put on another mediocre offering. They fought in a casket match that didn’t even go 10 minutes. Even that was probably a good five minutes too long. It marked the last Streak match that didn’t feel special. Batista, Edge and Shawn Michaels were The Dead Man’s next three opponents, and each time out it was better than the last.
Despite the Mania 22 feud not going over so well, Taker and Henry feuded once again the next year. At Unforgiven 2007 Taker defeated the former Olympian in the main event of the show. Then two weeks later they went at it one more time on SmackDown with Taker again coming out on top. We got the point WWE, Taker is better than Henry!
Lucky for WWE they didn’t give up on Henry, but his feuds with the The Phenom were nothing but a series of lackluster affairs.
