10 Wrestlers That The Undertaker Couldn't Get Over
6. Nathan Jones
It’s hard to imagine even Shawn Michaels pulling a good match out of Nathan Jones. After all, The Heartbreak Kid was unable to get much out of Sid Vicious, who looked like a ring general compared to Jones.
The long term plan was for Nathan Jones and The Undertaker to feud with each other, and deliver a bunch of really bad matches. It was botched from the start, because initially, Jones had been given some pretty cool vignettes that played up his legitimate criminal past. He came to WWE to legally beat the crap out of people, and eventually Taker would be the man he set his sights on. Instead, they struck up a friendship and The Dead Man took the massive rookie of Boggo Road under his wing.
There was a lot wrong with the angle. Taker at that time was in the dying days of his American Badass character, and he was facing off against the dreaded Big Show and Albert. Both men could have probably been handled by Too Much. Still, the feud built to a tag match at WrestleMania XIX. However, WWE didn’t trust Jones to get in the ring, so they just had Taker beat the hell out of the two by himself.
The chemistry just wasn’t there between Taker and his protege, and Jones wrestling ability hadn’t progressed to the point where he could deliver a punch believably. In a rare moment of sanity, McMahon nixed a program between the two. It was probably one of the best decisions he made all year.
