10 Wrestlers That Tragically Turned To Drugs

10. Bam Bam Bigelow

Bam Bam was one of the most deceptive big men in professional wrestling history. Despite weighing over 350 pounds, he would often perform diving head-butts and was famous for a distinctive tattoo that covered his bald head. Bam Bam, real name Scott Bigelow, enjoyed a career that spanned twenty-one years. Turning out for WWE, WCW and ECW, he held numerous championships in the latter two promotions, most notably the ECW Heavywight Championship and WCW Tag Team Championship. He wasn't a title holder in WWE but made an appearance at WrestleMania XI against Lawrence Taylor. Remarkably, Bigelow continued to wrestle till 2006 despite suffering second degree burns to 40% of his body while rescuing three children from a burning house near his home in 2000. Upon his retirement, Bigelow moved to a private recreational community called "The Hideout" in Lake Ariel, Pennsylvania where he unsuccessfully ran a restaurant before his lift took a downward turn. In 2004, Bigelow was charged with endangering the welfare of a child through reckless driving attributing the incident to a mild seizure he had suffered. Bam Bam died aged 45 on the morning of January 19, 2007. He was found dead in his home at approximately 10:00am. The autopsy results showed Bigelow's death was due to multiple drugs found in his system including toxic levels of cocaine and an anti-anxiety drug. It turned out he was also suffering from a heart problem.
