10 Wrestlers That Tragically Turned To Drugs

9. Crash Holly

Despite making his professional debut in 1989, Crash will be most fondly remembered for his time in the WWF between 1999 and 2003. He formed a tag team with his 'cousin' Hardcore Holly, with whom he won the WWE World Tag Team Championship. During his WWE career, Crash held the WWE Hardcore Championship on 22 occasions, with many of his reigns coming during a period when the title was defended "24/7". Who could forget his performance in the kids' play area with The Headbangers and those dastardly clowns in the car park. He was also a one-time WWE European Champion and one-time Light Heavyweight Champion. Real name Mike Lockwood, Crash was released from WWE in June 2003 and joined NWA Total Nonstop Action as Mad Mikey, where he remained until his death later that year. Lockwood died on November 6, 2003, at his friend and fellow wrestler Stevie Richards' home in Florida. He was found partially clothed with a pool of vomit around his face. Empty bottles of the prescription drug Carisoprodol and a partially consumed bottle of alcohol were found nearby. His death, caused by choking on his own vomit, was officially ruled a suicide as some recently received divorce papers were also found nearby. He was buried in China Grove, North Carolina.
