10 Wrestlers Triple H Couldn't Get Over

9. The Spirit Squad

Perhaps two guys beating up five on multiple occasions is not the best way to book a feud. But such was the case of The Spirit Squad vs. Shawn Michaels and Triple H.

Now to get the rookies over, they needed solid in-ring veterans to work with. There weren’t too many choices better than the DX members at the time, so it potentially could have been beneficial to their careers. Instead, it was the end of the group, and 3 out of the 5 Squad member's careers in a WWE ring.

At Vengeance 2006, the two sides faced off with Hunter and his good buddy HBK, with the cheerleaders taking the loss. A few week’s later at Saturday Night’s Main Event, we got the rematch with the same results. That was pretty much it. There was some talent in the group (most notably the future Dolph Ziggler), but there wasn’t enough give-and-take to make things look equal. Sharing that big spotlight for the young talent was actually a big detriment to their act.

The Squad started out as obnoxious heels who had a lot of heat, but somehow left even more comically inept than when they began.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
