The Legend Killer did end up gaining quite a bit of success over the course of his career, but it was in no thanks due to his feud with The Game.

Randy Orton and Triple H simply do not belong anywhere near each other in a ring. They produced one of the most lackluster WrestleMania events ever together, and years before that they had a rushed feud that killed Orton’s momentum as a babyface, and badly derailed his career for months. That was likely not the goal.

Orton defeated Chris Benoit at SummerSlam 2004, and this did not sit well with Hunter, as he was unable to do so himself in multiple attempts. The following night, the newly crowned champ was kicked out of Evolution. They then battled at Unforgiven a few weeks later and Hunter captured the title once again. The plan was for Orton to chase his old leader, with the hopes that he would become a superstar face in the process.

However, he was unable to win the rematch, and was pretty well sunk as a character. It wasn’t until a heel turn, and a match against The Undertaker at WrestleMania 21, did Orton regain his footing.

While The Viper and Triple H made solid stablemates, they just could never recapture that magic against each other in the ring.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
