10 Wrestlers Who Are In The Wrong Role
4. Baron Corbin As A Wrestling God
The character of Baron Corbin hasn't exactly clicked on a number of occasions over the years. But one aspect of his many shades of villainy that has rarely been called into question is his ability to genuinely piss off thousands with a mic in hand.
So, the reveal of John Bradshaw Layfield being brought back into the mix as a returning Happy-less Corbin's manager/mouth-piece felt like a peculiar call last month. And the decision to have him branded as the second-coming of the "Wrestling God" only added to the oddness.
Since arriving on the main roster back in 2016, Corbin's issues have largely stemmed from the character not being able to make the transition from perennial heel loser to genuine main event bad guy to be reckoned with. And this can be traced back to the fact that "bum-ass" Corbin has routinely come up short on the biggest stage.
With that in mind, having JBL consistently tell fans how brilliant and vital his new protégé is without the company having the cojones to simply show them how dominant and important he is, through, you know, winning matches of any real importance, feels like another sidewards or even backwards step for the long-time mid-card gatekeeper.
Dump the loud-mouth bully and have the loud-mouth Corbin End the Days of all in his way with a steak in one hand and a cigar in the other, I say!
