Whether you know him as the creepy commentator on Raw obsessed with ‘puppies’ or as the legendary wrestler who bloodied himself all across Memphis, Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler is engrained in wrestling. In lots of interviews, Lawler has explained how he’s refused to touch alcohol throughout his life. He’s extremely proud of his abstinence, claiming that his no alcohol/drugs lifestyle is the secret to his youthful appearance and that's what helped his longevity in the business.

His abstinence from alcohol got brought up in storyline in 1996 when Lawler mocked Jake Roberts for his alcohol addiction. His son Brian Christopher/Grandmaster Sexay unfortunately didn’t have Jerry’s avoidance for drugs and alcohol, having dependencies on them throughout his life which led to run-ins with the law before he tragically died in 2018.

Lawler being a teetotaller hasn’t stopped him from having his own beer though. ‘Jerry The King Lager’ is a collaboration between Lawler and a brewing company based in Memphis and is available to drink in his restaurant ‘Jerry Lawler’s Hall of Fame Bar & Grille’. Still, Lawler has stressed he would never drink even his own beer: “I’ve never tasted beer, wine, or whiskey in my life and I’m not going to start just because one’s named after me.”
