Adam Cole's face turn has been subtle and mostly implied instead of having a major shift. His recent feud with former NFL punter Pat McAfee was the turning point before having a clean and respectful match for the vacant NXT title with Finn Balor. He didn't use any of his dastardly tactics during the match, he didn't come to the ring with the Undisputed Era or incorporate interference like he did as champion, and after the bell, he praised Balor backstage and congratulated him for the victory.

This has given fans a reason to amplify their love of the longest-reigning NXT Champion, as he's been the most popular man on the brand for years due to his in ring skills, natural charisma and genuine kindness outside of the ring.

While it’s unclear what WWE will do with the leader of the Undisputed Era going forward, especially considering his stablemate Kyle O’Reilly’s challenge for the NXT title at Takeover 31, Cole turning babyface was an unexpectedly soothing decision. It feels nice to be encouraged to root for someone so naturally entertaining and could lead to creative triumph going forward.
