10 Wrestlers Who Became Unexpectedly Popular Babyfaces In 2020
8. Big Swole
Big Swole is an incredibly talented wrestler and finally got the opportunity to show off her natural charisma in AEW during her feud with Britt Baker. Before her feud with Baker commenced, Swole showed off her skill inside the ring with consistently good AEW Dark performances but didn't get the major opportunity to stand out as a character.
Baker's promos and the engaging mic work from Swole herself helped fans get behind Swole every week as a credible babyface and potential title contender, eventually campaigning for her and Baker's Tooth and Nail match to get on the main card of All Out this year. While many would have wanted the women to get the main show regardless, the connection to the angle from AEW fans and the desire for Swole’s biggest opportunity to take place on PPV, meant that Tony Khan couldn’t deny the match’s natural place on the main show.
While it’s unclear if Swole will be used with Baker going forward or if she’ll take another direction entirely, the future is bright for her as she has a genuinely over character and significant momentum, something that wasn’t guaranteed at the start of the year.
