10 Wrestlers Who Became Unexpectedly Popular Babyfaces In 2020
7. Otis
Otis is great, a wildly entertaining part of WWE’s inconsistent 2020. Heavy Machinery have been great since their debut several years ago, their NXT skits involving Otis’ desire for steaks still hold up as some of the funniest sketches in recent WWE memory. They were over in Full Sail as undercard tag wrestlers, and Otis proved his skills as a babyface in an underrated TV match with Tommaso Ciampa.
But no one could have predicted just how over Otis’ pairing with Mandy Rose would get, leading Otis to a narratively satisfying main card WrestleMania match with Dolph Ziggler.
Following that victory, Otis miraculously and surprisingly won the Money in the Bank briefcase, which he holds to this day. It could have backfired for WWE as Otis has been presented as a primarily comedic character, but Otis has stayed over and is a consistently entertaining part of Smackdown. While he seems unlikely to cash in successfully and become the World Champion of a brand, especially considering that Drew McIntyre and Roman Reigns are holding the top belts right now, Otis’ stock has been dramatically raised and he’s become an out of nowhere babyface success.
