10 Wrestlers Who Changed Managers

6. The Godwinns - Hillbilly Jim To Sunny

Vince McMahon has always seemed to have a little bit of a soft spot for Hillbillies and in the Godwinns he had a pair who could stink up the WWE in both the literal and figurative sense. The Original Managers €“ Though Henry Godwinn had wrestled as a singles competitor as part of the Million Dollar Corporation, when he started teaming with his cousin Phineas they fell under the tutelage of the aptly-named Hillbilly Jim. The duo got all the way to the finals of a tournament to crown new tag team champions that culminated at Wrestlemania XII, but were on the losing end of an encounter with The Bodydonnas. To add to the €œdrama€, Phineas soon developed the hots for Bodydonnas manager Sunny as well. The Change €“ Hillbilly Jim was already a thing of the past by the time the pair won the straps from The Bodydonnas, which left an open spot for Sunny to take up the managerial reins as she continued her efforts to stay as close to the gold as possible. Unsurprisingly, the pair also started to demonstrate more heelish tendencies during the period, with Sunny manipulating them every step of the way. While the change in manager didn€™t do a lot of good for The Godwinns in the long run, it did act as the genesis of Sunny€™s gold digger character, which in turn gave us the Sunny that would become the prototype for the Attitude Era diva. For that, we can always be thankful.
