10 Wrestlers Who Completely Changed To Become Main Event Stars

10. Raven

The Change: Scott Levy went from brash, colourful manager Johnny Polo to nihilistic, depressive Raven in 1994 and never looked back. It might not have felt like it at the time, but leaving the WWF for Paul Heyman's bold new ECW outfit was the best thing that could have happened.

How It Helped: The Raven character struck a chord with ECW fans and facilitated Levy's later runs in WCW and WWE. Though he'd never reach the heights in those companies he had under Heyman's tutelage, Raven was considered a top guy in Philadelphia and is still remembered as one of the original ECW's best sons.

Looking like a wrestling version of Kurt Cobain helped Raven amidst the grunge music hysteria still gripping pop culture in the mid-'90s. He never had that kind of cool edge to him as the goofy Polo, and such a radical departure from that gimmick turned Levy into one of the hottest acts in the business.
