10 Wrestlers Who Could Be The Jokers In The AEW Owen Hart Tournament

2. Will Ospreay

AEW Jokers
Oli Sandler/The Ringside Perspective

Will Ospreay to AEW hasn't happened yet, which is both strange and not.

He has worked the States extensively throughout the pandemic under circumstances that are understandable (it's difficult to travel in and out of Japan) and puzzling (that whole vacating the title and rumoured to be NXT UK-bound business).

He would obviously get over to a major extent in AEW - he's so phenomenal at his craft that even the people who think he's a bit of a tw*t can't deny it - but as a result, it would be difficult to book him for any notable length of time. He is an established A-tier NJPW headliner, but then, so is Jay White, and he's worked an AEW show just for the fun of it.

There's probably nothing more to it than AEW having limited access to a performer who should be brought in as a monumental deal; after all, Ospreay is amongst the most critically acclaimed wrestlers on the planet. He is also building a match slyly in collaboration with Kenny Omega. They spat in character and infrequently on Twitter about whose matches are better, so that match is happening at some point. Omega's surgery recovery schedule might wrap up in time for Forbidden Door, but Ospreay hardly needs building up for it via a win in the Owen.

The match graphic itself sells that match.
