When AEW launched, were they expected to land Sting?

When AEW launched, were they expected to land Christian Cage?

When AEW launched, were they expected to land...Bill Goldberg?!

Indeed, 'Da Man' is a free agent following the expiration of his latest WWE contract, bringing to an end his inexplicable comeback tour that began in 2016 and bafflingly brought with it TWO runs as Universal Champion. Goldie won't become AEW World Champion any time soon because unlike both of his former employers, All Elite Wrestling values its World title - but he could debut on Collision.

Tony Khan has openly discussed the possibility of Goldberg, one of the Ted Turner-helmed organisation's prominent in-house talents, signing for AEW. Speaking to The Bet Las Vegas' Adrian Hernandez, TK affirmed that Goldberg was one of the biggest active names in pro wrestling, noting that it'd be one for AEW to keep an eye on:-

"Bill is an exceptionally exciting name and one of the biggest names in the sport. It's certainly a big thing for us to pay attention to. I would take notice of that. It's interesting."

News of AEW's United Kingdom debut on 27 August has brought forth speculation that there, Goldberg may wrestle his final match alongside Darby Allin and ex-WCW rival Sting, which coincidentally may also be 'The Icon's farewell, too.

Would Tony Khan do it?

You tell us.
