We’ll caveat firstly that AEW do need to be a little careful with Hook. The young grappler has become an internet sensation, and if used incorrectly could never transcend that. There’s the risk that he becomes more meme than wrestler, with deeply online fans demanding him as a joke and the rest of the crowd looking on nonplussed.

That’s a worst case scenario, though, and so far the future looks rosy for Hook. His matches have been brief but effective and impactful, he clearly has in-ring skill, and his aura is undeniable.
