While Punk obviously received a hero’s welcome on his arrival in AEW, he has recently been teasing the possibility of a heel turn. He latched onto the heat in his barnstormer with Eddie Kingston, and took advantage of MJF’s hometown advantage to wind up the Long Island crowd during their ongoing feud.
Were he to make the full jump to the dark side, there’s no one better to do this against than Adam Page. The current world champion has received heavy crowd support against the similarly beloved Bryan Danielson, and is a great, organic good guy against whom a talented villain could gain big time boos.
Page’s title run is gaining momentum; were he to be the guy who dealt both Danielson and Punk their first losses in the company, that would be a serious feather in his cowboy hat. What’s more, it stands to reason you’d want a star of Punk’s stature to be part of the title conversation (even if he doesn’t really need to win it).
Heel Punk was always a good time, and against a character as developed as Page, he’d have a ton to work with.
