10 Wrestlers Who Could No Longer Perform Their Finisher
8. Scott Steiner
Early 90’s Scott Steiner was nothing short of amazing inside the ring. Whether he and his brother were battling The Midnight Express in WCW, Big Van Vader and Bam Bam Bigelow in NJPW, or even Bret and Owen Hart in WWE, The Steiner Brothers were easily one of the most impressive and important tag teams in modern-day wrestling. But as good a team as The Steiner Brothers were, there was no denying Scott had future world champion written all over him – especially with moves like the wicked-looking Frankensteiner.
For years, Scott used his Frankensteiner finish to great success, even deploying it in the cartoonish days of the pre-Attitude Era WWE, where nobody’s moves looked particularly painful. Coupled with all the other awesome high impact slams and suplexes he had at his disposal; Scott Steiner was the very embodiment of a genetic freak.
Two decades of hitting his finisher did nothing for Steiner’s increasing back injuries though, and by the turn of the century with his diagnosis of Drop Foot, the decision was reached to retire the move once and for all. Instead, Scott would use the Steiner Recliner, a variation on the Camel Clutch, which looked badass when you figured in just how strong Scott Steiner actually was.
