10 Wrestlers Who Could No Longer Perform Their Finisher

7. Damian Priest

Damian Priest, much like Darren Young before him, was a victim of the same kind of backstage shenanigans in that a much bigger star was bound for WWE and they had dibs on his finishing manoeuvre. Unlike Young though, we’re fairly confident Priest’s position within WWE is safe despite this setback.

After debuting in NXT with a variation of Cody Rhodes’ Cross Rhodes known as The Reckoning, Damien Priest enjoyed a ton of success as a popular babyface. After turning heel, Priest ditched the move in favour of a much more devastating looking Razor’s Edge. At fist glance, it would be easy to say this was simply a result of his new attitude needing a new finisher, but in actuality, it was because WWE had ordered him to cease and desist immediately so that it didn’t take the shine away from Cross Rhodes when Cody made his upcoming big return to the company at WrestleMania 38.

This decision makes a lot of sense because from what we’ve seen so far, WWE is positioning Rhodes as an impact player going forward. On top of that, the Razor’s Edge is a nice little homage to the late Scott Hall, as well as a much more devastating decision-maker for a wrestler the size of Damien Priest.
