10 Wrestlers Who Could Retire John Cena In 2022

6. Kevin Owens

A few weeks ago it would be hard to imagine Kevin Owens doing anything of genuine main event importance in WWE. In mid-December, though, he re-signed with WWE, and while his status didn’t immediately leap up, it’s hard to imagine he did this without a few assurances from the back office.

It seems unlikely Owens would be given Cena’s last match, but it’s something we’d certainly like to see. Their series in 2015 makes the highlight reel of either man’s career, each match offering something a bit different but all demonstrating their remarkable chemistry.

As noted at the time, the completely disparate career paths of Mr WWE and the indie darling make this an easy build, and the two men can generate excitement for a match on the mic like few others in the company.

Owens has proved to be one of the most generous workers in the business for a few years, bumping like a maniac for the likes of Reigns and Braun Strowman no matter where he is on the card. He deserves another shot at the top of the heap, and this rematch could be a classic.
