10 Wrestlers Who Could Retire John Cena In 2022
5. Bron Breakker
Vanquishing John Cena conclusively would mean more to a wrestler than any championship, and so it stands to reason that the honour should be given to a young star. NXT 2.0’s success is yet to be determined, but if there’s one prospect the company clearly believes in, it’s Bron Breakker.
The son of Steiner has immediately leapt to the top of the gaudy new NXT, with his snatching of Tommaso Ciampa’s title a matter of when, not if, at this point. Ineffective wielding of bolt cutters aside, he looks like he could be the real deal. He’ll surely join the main roster in 2022, and if he’s the star in the making the office believes he is, he could prove it by taking the place of the company’s last industry-transcending star.
The fear, of course, is that this would be too much too soon for Bron, that the fans would feel he’s been shoved down their throats - babyface Roman Reigns 2.0. Breakker, though, has shown remarkable aptitude for the business, and is clearly getting better and better.
If he were to beat Cena convincingly, it’d be a statement for the ages - a high risk, high reward gamble on the company’s biggest prospect.
