10 Wrestlers Who Desperately Need New Gimmicks

3. Jinder Mahal

The Problem: The only way is down for Jinder after being WWE Champion for much of last year. That lengthy title reign in 2017 was an experiment from WWE, and it's hardly one hardcore fans are eager to see them repeat. For Mahal, a decent run with one of the secondary titles seems like the next logical step.

The problem there is that WWE will likely rely on more xenophobia to sell a United States Title tilt. Will that work? Probably not, and it'll only prolong the agony of hearing Mahal drone on about being treated differently because of his heritage.

Suggested Change: Jinder, much like others on this list, has a fascinating backstory. He's an example of hard work paying off and legit turned his career around. That's an inspiring tale, but it's totally wasted when he's bogged down with enough Indian stereotypes to make Muhammad Hassan blush.

If (and only if) WWE are willing to dispense with the uncomfortable racism thread they've been pushing on fans for well over a year now, Jinder has a chance to become more than a flash in the pan. He can be proud of his ancestry without that culture being a cheap heat seeker.
