10 Wrestlers Who Didn't Take Their Gimmicks Seriously Enough

Don't just take our word for it. Several backstage reports surfaced during the "Emmalina" debacle claiming that Emma not taking her new role seriously enough was the very reason her re-debut kept being put back.

Whether they had any truth to them or not is difficult to say for sure, but nothing about the Australian's previous promo work suggested she was capable of pulling off what was supposed to be a narcissistic Sable-like character convincingly.

The blame here perhaps lies less with her than it does the creative team, who were guilty of miscasting a wrestler and then, instead of coming clean on their error of judgement right away, continuing to push the gimmick in the most comical fashion imaginable.

That said, if Emma did put anything less than her all into it, you can sort of understand why WWE heads were ultimately reluctant to push her thereafter, especially when there are so many hungry young rookies waiting in the NXT wings.
