10 Wrestlers Who Didn't Take Their Gimmicks Seriously Enough

4. Andre The Giant

You can sort of understand Andre the Giant's predicament. Few wrestlers in the history of the business have been asked to play a character in the ring that is so wildly different from their personality outside of it.

But, legendary though he is, the Frenchman could perhaps have done a little better. For the better part of his WWE run, he was supposed to be a mean, take-no-prisoners monster heel, who stood in direct opposition to the wholesome, kid-friendly Hulk Hogan.

And yet there are stories of him falling out of bars in the middle of the night after entertaining the locals with his drunken wit. On one occasion, he was said to have become so drunk that hotel staff had to lay a blanket over his sleeping body to hide him from other customers.

While Andre has gone down as one of the biggest and most important stars ever to work in a Vince McMahon-owned ring, he might also have been one of the least professional too. Nobody was ever going to tell him that to his face, but we can admit it now.
