10 Wrestlers Who Didn't Know What To Do With Title Belts
7. Rob Van Dam (WWE Championship)
"Look at this one. It spins!" was a textbook takedown of John Cena's custom WWE Championship by Rob Van Dam after 'Mr Monday Night' claimed the gold for his own at the company's second One Night Stand pay-per-view, but what else was he really to say?
Van Dam was in a rather unfortunate spot during a run that ended before it could really begin in 2006, in that he had to simultaneously toast his maiden run as WWE's top guy while trying to reintroduce the ECW Championship as a prize of prestige and renown.
Theoretically a perfect candidate for both spots, the chalice was ultimately poisoned before an ill-timed police stoppage between towns alongside Sabu cost him the spot. He couldn't bury the parent company's belt anymore than to mock Cena's customisation, but he couldn't hold the ECW title aloft as the richest prize without looking like a mark for a long-forgotten trinket.
His losses might have been necessitated by his legal trouble, but splitting the straps back off felt of equal importance by the time his number was up.
