10 Wrestlers Who Didn't Know When To Quit

6. Terry Funk

If Mick Foley is "King Of The Death Matches", then Terry Funk is "King Of The Retirement Matches"...

The first time he hung up his boots was in 1984, then he debuted for WWE a year later. After stints with World Championship Wrestling and Extreme Championship Wrestling, he went back to ECW one last so he could end his career there. 11 days later he was wrestling again... before another extreme retirement in 1999. But, he was still wrestling in WCW in 2001, just before the brand closed.

Instead of going straight to WWE, Funk bounced around different promotions, eventually coming back to Vince McMahon for the ECW One Night Stand reunion shows. Terry's actual last match saw him team with The Rock 'n' Roll Express against Brian Christopher, Doug Gilbert and Jerry "The King" Lawler.

The man didn't know when to quit, but he should've done it in 1997.

ECW put on Terry Funk's WrestleFest and Titan Towers let Mankind and Bret "Hitman" Hart show up for it; that's how respected Terry was.

HIs final match was the main event against WWE Champion Hart, where Funk lost after being celebrated in the ring by his family and the ECW roster.

If you're thinking about all the Funk matches that you would've missed out on if he retired here, you need to see the contests he was in that you don't know about. Terry put his body through so much for fans; he deserved to enjoy his retirement sooner, he just didn't know how.

When I'm not trying my hardest to visit all 50 U.S. states, I'm listening to music from the 80s, watching TV from the 90s, and reminiscing about growing up in the 00s. I'm currently living in Melbourne, Australia so WWE premium live events are on Sunday afternoons for me; the absolute dream.
