10 Wrestlers Who Died In Mysterious Circumstances
4. Gino Hernandez
Gino Hernandez was a 13-year veteran when he died mysteriously at the age of just 28 in 1986.
With a well known predilection for blow, friends of Hernandez were worried when he hadn't returned their calls. When law enforcement officers broke into his apartment, their suspicions were confirmed, when Hernandez was found unconscious.
Understood to have been dead for two to three days, the case was initially ruled as a homicide. However, following an autopsy report, the verdict was changed to that of a drug overdose and the homicide investigation was dropped.
Although friends knew of his drug problem, many believed that he was murdered in a drug related incident.
World Class employee and friend David Manning made note of the dead bolt not being locked on Hernandez's door, something he never forgot to do when he was inside.
Jack Roberts also speculated foul play, suggesting that Gino was "attached to some pretty heavy people" and circles he perhaps didn't belong in. Hernandez's friend Michael Hayes echoed his sentiments, stating that he had "a real, real hard time," believing that Gino overdosed.
The case into Gino Hernandez's death has never been re-opened.
