10 Wrestlers Who Died In Mysterious Circumstances
3. El Espectrito II And La Parkita
Only one wrestling death has gone on to inspire an art house film musing over its events, that of the killing of El Espectrito II and La Parkita.
The twin mini-luchadores, Alejandro and Alberto Perez Jimenez, 35, whose monikers ironically translated as the Little Ghost and Little Death, were found dead in a Mexico City hotel room in July of 2009.
Having met two older prostitutes in the city centre, the two mini estrellas invited the sex workers back to their hotel. From here the stories are disputed.
The women, one, who the BBC reported as being 65-years old and the other known as the "Fat One", claim they came and left the hotel room within 20 minutes.
Prosecuters, however, claimed the duo were part of a wider group of prostitutes known colloquially as La Filtracion, who were notorious for drugging and robbing men. Arguing that the women had spiked the men's drinks with eye drops, prosecutors suggested the dosage was sufficient to typically knock a man out, but had proved fatal for the masked minis.
After the police finally tracked down the 'Fat One', the two were sentenced in 2010 for a total of 47 years each for their involvements in the crime.
