10 Wrestlers Who Flirted With Other Careers (And Then Came Back)

7. Edge

Not only had Adam Copeland flirted with a career in acting, but it also looked as if the WWE Hall of Famer was set to be a full-time actor for years to come. Only then, of course, the Rated-R Superstar was able to return from retirement and turn up as a surprise entrant in this year's men's Royal Rumble match.

By all accounts and purposes, Edge is now back and on the active Raw roster - which obviously means that any significant acting work will have to be put on the backburner until the multiple-time World Champion finally calls time on his career on his own terms down the line.

Copeland had previously had bit-part roles in movies while previously competing in the squared circle, and he even headlined WWE Studios' Interrogation in 2016, but the Canadian found his greatest acting success in the Haven and Vikings TV shows.

From a supporting player, Edge's Dwight Hendrickson became a mainstay of Haven for an impressive 42 episodes, while Copeland's time on Vikings is fondly remembered for his turn as Icelandic warrior Kjetill Flatnose.

You have to think that Adam Copeland certainly has a bright future in the acting world once he finally hangs up the boots and tights for good, but for now we can all be grateful that one of the true modern-day greats of the squared circle is miraculously back in a wrestling ring.

Once described as the Swiss Army Knife of WhatCulture, Andrew can usually be found writing, editing, or presenting on a wide range of topics. As a lifelong wrestling fan, horror obsessive, and comic book nerd, he's been covering those topics professionally as far back as 2010. In addition to his current WhatCulture role of Senior Content Producer, Andrew previously spent nearly a decade as Online Editor and Lead Writer for the world's longest-running genre publication, Starburst Magazine, and his work has also been featured on BBC, TechRadar, Tom's Guide, WhatToWatch, Sportkskeeda, and various other outlets, in addition to being a Rotten Tomatoes-approved film critic. Between his main dayjob, his role as the lead panel host of Wales Comic Con, and his gig as a pre-match host for Wrexham AFC games, Andrew has also carried out a hugely varied amount of interviews, from the likes of Robert Englund, Kane Hodder, Adrienne Barbeau, Rob Zombie, Katharine Isabelle, Leigh Whannell, Bruce Campbell, and Tony Todd, to Kevin Smith, Ron Perlman, Elijah Wood, Giancarlo Esposito, Simon Pegg, Charlie Cox, the Russo Brothers, and Brian Blessed, to Kevin Conroy, Paul Dini, Tara Strong, Will Friedle, Burt Ward, Andrea Romano, Frank Miller, and Rob Liefeld, to Bret Hart, Sting, Mick Foley, Ricky Starks, Jamie Hayer, Britt Baker, Eric Bischoff, and William Regal, to Mickey Thomas, Joey Jones, Phil Parkinson, Brian Flynn, Denis Smith, Gary Bennett, Karl Connolly, and Bryan Robson - and that's just the tip of an ever-expanding iceberg.
