10 Wrestlers Who Gained Nothing By Being WWE World Champion

5. Jinder Mahal

Which Belt: WWE Title.

Why They Gained Nothing: A little over two months before stunning everyone by beating Randy Orton to become WWE Champ at Backlash 2017, Jinder Mahal was jobbing on house shows to Big Cass. That was his gig in WWE; Jinder, impressive physical shape or not, was a jobber to those the writers were serious about.

Then, everything changed and fans were suddenly expected to accept Mahal as SmackDown's top heel. Few did throughout his lengthy 170-day stint as champion, but that wasn't through lack of trying from Jinder or WWE. Although the man did everything in his power to transform his fortunes, most in the fanbase refused to buy into it, and his feuds with Randy Orton, Shinsuke Nakamura and more failed to electrify.

Once he dropped the title to AJ Styles in November 2017, Mahal became an outcast of the upper tier. He's slinked back down the card ever since, only stopping to capture the United States Title on his way back to the undercard.
