10 Wrestlers Who Gained Nothing By Being WWE World Champion

3. Dean Ambrose

Which Belt: WWE Title.

Why They Gained Nothing: 1,039 days after winning the WWE Title at Money In The Bank 2016, Dean Ambrose worked his final match for the promotion on a WWE Network house show special (The Shield: Final Chapter). The approx three years following his MITB cash in on on/off buddy/enemy Seth Rollins weren't always kind to Dean.

He seemed to dwindle down the card rather than catch fire after winning the biggest belt, and therein lies the problem.

There didn't seem to be a game plan for him either. When Ambrose bagged the title, he immediately became a third wheeler in the ongoing Rollins vs. Roman Reigns feud (despite being champion) and then entered a nondescript rivalry with the aforementioned Dolph Ziggler.

When WWE had seen enough, they booked him to drop the title to AJ Styles at Backlash in September and thrust Dean into the more comfortable role of challenger. The sad thing is that ever since losing the title, Ambrose has never once looked like he might get it back.
