The Forgotten Sons stable of Steve Cutler, Wesley Blake, and Jaxson Ryker were an up-and-coming act in NXT, picking up wins against The Street Profits, Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan and Breezango.

It appeared Vince McMahon saw potential in them too as they were promoted to the main roster on SmackDown in April 2020, even beating on and defeating The New Day. Once on SmackDown, their gimmick was tweaked to incorporate elements of patriotism and fighting for respect, playing off their services in the marines before signing with WWE.

But Blake and Cutler’s push came to a screeching halt after one sole tweet from Ryker in early June.

Ryker tweeted in support of then-President of the United States Donald Trump in the wake of the killing of George Floyd and the nationwide protests that followed. As soon as Ryker tweeted ‘Thankful for the @POTUS we have! God bless America. Built of freedom. Forgotten No More’, it drew heavy criticism from fans and wrestlers alike. Mustafa Ali, Kevin Owens and Batista heavily ripped into him online.

All from this one tweet and the backlash it generated, The Forgotten Sons were quickly removed from TV and Blake and Cutler were relegated to being Baron Corbin’s knights when they were finally allowed back on television 6 months later.
