10 Wrestlers Who Got Injured At The Worst Possible Time

10. Fandango

Fandango debuted in WWE with months of vignettes hyping his dancing ability, then spent weeks refusing to wrestle because ring announcers were pronouncing his name incorrectly. It all sounds like pro wrestling at its most asinine, but Johnny Curtis embraced his arrogant balladeer character and played it so well that fans couldn't help but respond loudly. His first televised match took place at WrestleMania XXIX, where the newcomer scored an upset win over Chris Jericho. The following night on Raw, the "Fandango-ing" craze began - throughout the show, thousands of fans continually sang the superstar's catchy theme song and danced, often disrupting other matches. His theme song shot up the iTunes charts, and it looked like a new superstar was born. By the next month, Fandango was involved in the Intercontinental Title picture, and he looked poised to capture the belt. In early June, Fandango suffered a concussion in a Smackdown match with Zack Ryder, and everything changed. Curtis Axel took his spot in Payback's IC Title match, winning the championship. Fandango was only out for four weeks, but upon his return, he had seemingly been forgotten about. Subsequent feuds with The Great Khali and Santino Marella did little for his career. More than two years later, he's still part of the bottom of the card in WWE, no doubt wondering where he'd be if he hadn't gotten hurt.
