10 Wrestlers Who Got Injured At The Worst Possible Time

9. Wade Barrett

Wade Barrett's career in WWE has been a mix of ups and downs. Debuting as leader of the Nexus, Barrett looked poised to become WWE Champion only months after his debut. After being turned back by Randy Orton and beaten by John Cena, Barrett slid down the card. In late 2011, another feud with Orton seemed to kick-start his career, but an elbow injury in February of 2012 put him on the shelf for six months. When he returned, he got involved with the Intercontinental Championship, winning it twice before visa issues took him out of competition and once again put a stop to his momentum. Barrett returned in late 2013 as "Bad News" Barrett, an enthusiastic bearer of unfortunate tidings. He didn't step back into the ring until 2014, but when he did, he quickly captured the Intercontinental Title once more. His new character was resonating with the fans, and his catchphrase ("I'm afraid I've got some bad news!") became ultra-popular. Just then, his train was derailed once more - he separated his shoulder on an episode of Smackdown, and was out for another six months. Barrett returned at the very end of 2014, and while WWE did give him the win in the 2015 King of the Ring tournament, he's struggled since, playing second fiddle to Stardust and losing more than his share of matches.
