10 Wrestlers Who Got Into Phenomenal Shape
2. Pete Dunne
We are getting the Bruiserweight back!
Apologies for the fanboy moment, but the ridiculous decision to rebrand Pete Dunne as Butch on SmackDown!, and turn him into the human version of Scrappy Doo has been an awful creative decision. Thankfully, Triple H knows what Dunne can be and seems to be transitioning him back to the devastating wrestler fans know and love.
For most of his run in NXT and NXT UK, Dunne was seen as a nasty piece of work, delighting himself whether stretching his opponents across the mat or snapping their fingers. There was an animalistic nature to him, one that was a lot more subtle than actually being a rabid dog.
In 2020, after a long spell out injured, Pete returned to NXT in the Thunderdome Era, turned heel and aligned himself with Pat McAfee. This was a pretty big deal, but the biggest talking point was how shredded the Birmingham native looked.
A quick hop onto the Brit's Instagram showed the world just how much effort he had put in to get into shape, with the stunning before and after picture all the evidence we needed to know that this was a very different man returning. Still as deadly and dangerous in the ring, Dunne now looks like he could do a whole lot more damage to anyone unfortunate enough to step in the ring with him.
