10 Wrestlers Who Got TERRIBLE Advice From WWE
3. Goldberg Needs “More Personality”
Goldberg was a huge get for WWE when they finally signed him in 2003. Suddenly, fans who had enjoyed his wrecking ball antics in WCW would get to see him clash with fresh opponents like The Rock, 'Taker, Triple H and others in money-spinning pay-per-view battles, and it'd kick ass.
Then they put a wig on him.
Bruce Prichard has defenced such lunacy on his 'Something To Wrestle With' pod before. The WWE higher-up said that Goldberg needed some "more personality", and argued that fans wouldn't accept his squash-match style in '03. That sounds like someone clutching at straws, and it's likely untrue.
Goldberg knew starring in wacky skits (like the wig one with Goldust) was a mistake too. He later admitted in interviews that he should've turned such nonsense down and pushed for the formula that had rocketed him to super-stardom in the first place six years prior - he didn't though, and WWE believed hamming it up would endear Bill to a new generation of wrestling fans.
