10 Wrestlers Who Had Electric Chemistry (But WWE Did Nothing With It)

10. Steve Austin And Sable

Steve Austin was the most popular Superstar in all of wrestling in the late ‘90s, transcending the mainstream with his rivalry with his boss Mr. McMahon. He headlined near every event as WWF Champion, or wrestling to reclaim it. Sable meanwhile was the most popular diva in the late ‘90s, becoming a well-known sex symbol and fronting one of the best selling issues of Playboy ever.

Austin and Sable demonstrated some stunning chemistry together in a few segments on Raw during that period of time. Their first was in ’97 when Austin went looking for a tag team partner backstage only to walk in on Sable changing as she clenched onto the hugely popular ‘Austin 3:16’ shirt to cover herself. They sounded like a genuine couple bickering throughout the segment.

Then the following year after Austin got red-hot he charged down the ring to save Sable from being humiliated by Mr. McMahon. The week after that Sable conducted an interview with Austin in the run-up to King of the Ring (1998), where she broke out in natural laughter when she was asked by Austin to flip Mr. McMahon the bird on the way back.

Why the WWF didn’t do anything substantial with these two together, who were so entertaining when paired up, is a mystery.
