Asuka had a great career in Japan, but there's no doubt that it's her WWE run that most people will remember her for.

Asuka started life as a wrestler in Japan working under the ring-name Kana and built up a reputation as one of the best workers on the planet, regardless of gender. Putting on clinics with joshi legends like Meiko Satomura and Syuri, Kana caught the attention of WWE trainer Sara Del Rey, who had her own classic match against her in CHIKARA. WWE signed Kana under Del Rey's recommendation, and it's safe to say that Asuka has more than justified the faith placed in her.

Asuka enjoyed a phenomenal run on NXT and, while her main roster run has suffered from the same booking woes that plague many an NXT call-up, she has endured her time in the wilderness to emerge in 2020 as one of the most over wrestlers in the company. Asuka was justly rewarded for her role as the company's workhorse during the early days of the Empty Arena era with the RAW women's championship, and with that title she made history as the WWE's first ever Asian grand-slam champion.

Kana was great; Asuka is extraordinary.
