10 Wrestlers Who Hated Working For ECW

Taz regards his 7 years in ECW as the highlight of his career. How could he not? Becoming ‘The Human Suplex Machine’, putting on stellar performances against the likes of Bam Bam Bigelow, Sabu and Tajiri and being an ECW Triple Crown Champion.

Once he signed with WWE in 2000, he had a less than great in-ring run there. Mostly because Vince McMahon didn’t see Taz as the human wrecking machine he was (rightly) booked to be in ECW, believing him to be too short to ever be more than a ‘good hand’. So in 2001 Taz shifted from wrestler to commentator in WWE, where he had fantastic chemistry with Michael Cole on SmackDown! for years.

WWE resurrected ECW as a third brand in 2006, which went disastrously. Everything fans loved about the original ECW was stripped away by the arrogance of Vince McMahon. Taz was tasked with doing commentary for the show with Joey Styles.

Taz doesn’t have fond feelings for his time in ECW post-2006, stating: "I ended up leaving the Smackdown desk to do colour commentary on the rebirth of ECW. You see the ECW guys call it the 'rebirth'. We don't call it ECW. It was Joey Styles and I. It was f--king horrible.”
