Great tag teams are defined not only by their charisma and ability, but their teamwork, chemistry, and cohesion. Each man makes the other stronger, and their connection should be so tight that both should be able to know exactly what the other is thinking at any given time.

Given their co-dependency and the amount of time they spend working together, you’d think these teams’ excellent on-screen relationships would be reflected backstage, but this isn’t always the case. Some teams just straight-up don’t like each other, and The Rockers are a perfect example.

Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty came together long before the former became a megastar and the latter a buzzword for wasted talent. They were a tremendous team at their peak, but their real-life relationship was permeated by bitterness and jealousy. It wasn’t rare for The Rockers to fight each other before going out to wrestle, and they’d regularly go several weeks without talking.

Still, Shawn and Marty were able to hold it together long enough to leave a mark on the tag division. Age and finding religion seems to have softened Shawn’s stance on his former partner, but Marty remains as bitter as ever, and still regularly talks ill of Shawn whenever the media give him an opportunity to do so.
