10 Wrestlers Who Have Been Swept Under The Rug
9. Ortiz
It will be a black mark against Tony Khan if Proud & Powerful come and go through All Elite Wrestling and never once hold the promotion's prestigious Tag Team Titles.
Heralded as a major capture when they arrived at Double or Nothing in 2019, Santana and Ortiz hit new heights on the first episode of Dynamite when they aligned with Chris Jericho and formed the Inner Circle. Considerable success awaited.
But it sort of didn't come, as they played henchmen more than anything, and given the chance, Ortiz's tag partner, Santana shone more as a singles star. Eventually, the Inner Circle disintegrated and Ortiz and Santana teamed with old running buddy, Eddie Kingston.
Still, nothing materialised beyond being a supporting player in the feud with Jericho and a needless Hair vs. Hair match with 'Le Champion', which he lost, has been the height of Ortiz's run in the company.
Since then, he's teamed with Ruby Soho for some flat matches with Sammy Guevara and Tay Melo, and prattled about on AEW Dark: Elevation. Considering the places the other members of the Inner Circle and their subsequent feuds fell, it seems Tony Khan has little use for Ortiz as a singles star.
More worryingly, rumours abound that he and Santana fell out a while back and have little desire to work together anymore. If so, Ortiz could face a very bleak future.
