Cody was the man who was involved in AEW before the blueprints had even been drawn up, but now fans of the promotion boo him mercilessly.

The American Nightmare began his AEW career strongly, facing off against brother Dustin in a bloody yet brilliant clash at the company's inaugural pay-per-view. The two blood-drenched brothers hugging after the match became an iconic image.

Despite him losing to Chris Jericho with the stipulation that in loss he will never challenge for the AEW World Championship again (Full Gear 2019), this only dispelled accusations of favourable self-booking for a short time. Cody won the inaugural TNT Championship tournament, going over Shawn Spears, Darby Allin, and Lance Archer.

Though he has stayed away from the AEW World Title picture, Cody the hero spearheading an alternative to WWE is dead. Rhodes is currently still a face in everything but crowd reactions.

As an All-American hero, he is mercilessly booed. All cheers lauded upon his current feud are aimed to encourage the sinister Dutchman Malakai Black.
