It was labelled as Iron vs Gold, the main event for the over 6000 strong Insane Championship Wrestling pay per view this year. For an independent company, this was one of the largest crowds in Europe for over 30 years for wrestling (when you ignore all WWE/TNA shows).
WCPW's 'Iron Man' Joe Coffey would face Kurt Angle in the final match on the card, despite the ICW World Heavyweight title being defended in a steel cage, and the whole company at stake in a tag team elimination match (which featured Finn Balor as a special enforcer).
To make this the main event, something special had to happen. It did. Joe Coffey was able to do what no man thought would be possible; defeat Kurt Angle. Not just defeat him, but he made Kurt Angle tap out to his version of the Boston Crab; the No Mercy by reversing Angle's own ankle lock.
The crowd in the Glasgow Hydro were shocked to say the least. The Iron Man is one of the UK's finest competitors so to be included in this elite club is thoroughly deserving. It is certainly one of the highlights of this man's prosperous career.
