10 Wrestlers Who Have Peaked In 2022
6. Wardlow
Heading into this year's Double or Nothing PPV, it felt like The Wardog simply had the entire world - and many a powerbombed soul - at his feet.
Utterly thumping long-time employer MJF had the potential to be the sort of career-making win that could set Wardlow up as AEW's next breakout top star. And the signs looked somewhat promising even in the wake of The Salt of the Earth entirely overshadowing his former bodyguard's big win thanks to his DoN weekend shenanigans and follow-up Dynamite pipebomb.
But the hulking star's rousing TNT Championship win over Scorpio Sky unfortunately didn't ultimately act as the catalyst for Wardlow's World to become an unstoppable reality. Instead, the once deafening reaction to his Powerbomb Symphony has been somewhat neutered by the colossal sensation's inconsistent booking throughout the summer.
A limp feud with Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt, and Satnam Singh did the force of nature little favours, with his All Out teaming alongside FTR against Lethal and the Motor City Machine Guns feeling as though it was lazily thrown together at the last minute, too.
Hopefully, Wardlow's newfound partnership with Samoa Joe can bear fruit down the line and possibly lead to the sort of meaty monster mash that reminds fans why the 34-year-old still has it in him to be an All Elite leading light.
But there's no denying that TK has struggled to capitalise on Wardlow's meteoric rise and MJF conquering in the months since his Double or Nothing annihilation.
