10 Wrestlers Who Have Peaked In 2022
5. Thunder Rosa
While some would argue that La Mera Mera's crowning AEW moment should've likely come a bit earlier than it eventually did, perhaps right on the back of her groundbreaking Lights Out clash with Britt Baker in March 2021 instead, Thunder Rosa did finally accomplish her goal of winning the All Elite big one against her long-time rival in 2022.
And with said AEW Women's World Championship victory coming within a towering steel cage structure on the back of a savage throwdown with The Doctor, and all whilst in her adoptive hometown of San Antonio, Texas, it's safe to say Rosa's coronation was well worth the wait.
But far from taking the championship ball and running with it, Rosa's subsequent reign would disappointingly become more associated with controversy than it was thrilling battles against AEW's finest.
Accusations of sandbagging opponents, real-life heat between herself and on-screen rivals Baker and Jamie Hayter, and some typically limp women's division booking across the board soon left Rosa making the wrong sort of headlines and getting lost in the shuffle on weekly programming in the time before pulling out of All Out due to injury.
And with Toni Storm now acting as Interim AEW Women's World Champion, it remains to be seen what the future holds for the current reigning champ and whether she can rediscover the mojo that took her to the very top of the division any time soon.
