10 Wrestlers Who Have SERIOUSLY Regressed In The Ring
7. Bray Wyatt
For the sake of fairness, it seems necessary to point out that a lot of Wyatt's declining match quality has come from the company's over-reliance on gimmick. How exactly are you supposed to do your best work with projections of cockroaches, red lighting and Alexa Bliss bleeding oil while sat on a Jack in the Box? Wrestling is strange sometimes.
Still, even without these unnecessary additions, Wyatt's performances have been lacklustre compared to his earlier years. When he first debuted the character on the main roster, he seemed like a future HOF member, not just because of the gimmick but because his in-ring work was so exciting. This led to classic matches, such as his Royal Rumble bout against Daniel Bryan in 2014, that stole the show.
However, watching his matches now, it's clear that the magic is gone. His offence is not convincing at all, and even when he's afforded more freedom to perform without the supernatural stuff, he still doesn't match up to his old self. Case in point, his strap match against Bryan at the 2020 Royal Rumble, which was Bray's best work in The Fiend persona, and was decent but didn't match up to his old self.
Even at his best, he has still regressed. If you'd been as poorly treated as him, you'd probably fall behind as well.
