10 Wrestlers Who Have Suddenly Disappeared
1. Shawn Spears
MJF vs. Wardlow was one of the hottest and most entertaining storylines in AEW's four-year history. It was personal, it was action packed, and it had literal years of build up. It also was woven into, and dovetailed into, the immaculate MJF and CM Punk rivalry which stands today as one of the best in modern wrestling history.
What doesn't get mentioned enough, is that Shawn Spears played a key part in it. Excelling as the current AEW Champion's nasty, pitbull of a henchman, Spears was a laugh riot as Wardlow's appointed 'Accountabilibuddy'. Sneaking in vicious chair shots and clowning around behind the big man, the former 'Perfect Ten' played the role to perfection, and when he met his comeuppance inside a steel cage, it was one of the highlights of an exceptional story.
Then MJF decided to take a steaming hot piss all over the pay-off with his behaviour surrounding Double of Nothing, Wardlow's star fizzled, and Spears went on to do... nothing. It was astonishing, as there was a lot of fan investment in the Canadian and he could have easily been a decent rival for Wardlow once 'Mr. Mayhem' had picked up his first belt in AEW when he won the TNT Title.
But we didn't see the 'Chairman' again for five months, until he appeared in his native Canada to a monstrous pop to save his former Pinnacle buddies, FTR, from the Embassy. He even brought back the 'Ten' gimmick that made him so popular in WWE.
Considering Spears' former ally MJF is the AEW Champion, it feels strange that someone so closely associated with the champ has completely disappeared.
