10 Wrestlers Who Have Suddenly Disappeared
2. Shinsuke Nakamura
There will not be a point in time, during Shinsuke Nakamura's run with WWE, that fans will not be wishing that creative will wake up and make the most of him.
It's been nearly six years since he arrived on the main roster, as a readymade, bona fide superstar, and the fact that WWE haven't got anywhere close to getting the best out of Nakamura is an abject failure on their part. It does feel like 'The Artist' has been going through the motions these past few years, and every title reign or victory has felt insignificant.
That looked set to change in 2022. After a standout showing in a gauntlet match at the beginning of the year, WWE seemed to line the 'King of Strong Style' up as Roman Reigns' post-WrestleMania 38 rival. It tied in with the injury Rick Boogs suffered in his bout with Nakamura against the Usos at 'Mania, and just seeing Nakamura and Reigns go nose to nose felt credible.
But it was dropped cold. No explanation. No write off. Out of nowhere, Nakamura was kicked from his main event spot and he tumbled back to the midcard. Apart from a decent rivalry with GUNTHER for the WWE Intercontinental Championship, Shinsuke has completely dropped off the WWE radar. His last televised WWE match was a losing effort to Santos Escobar in the opening round of the WWE World Cup in November, and since then, he's feasted on the scraps of house shows.
You could write a book on how badly WWE have booked Shinsuke Nakamura, but considering the market leader haven't used him in over three months, would anyone even read it?
