10 Wrestlers Who Have Suddenly Disappeared

4. Powerhouse Hobbs

Alongside his tag partner, Ricky Starks, Powerhouse Hobbs looked like the next breakout, homegrown star of All Elite Wrestling.

Yes, both of them had wrestled elsewhere, but AEW gave them prime-time television exposure, and the duo became easily the coolest act in the company. From their street swagger to their explosive matches, their implosion was well handled, but fizzled swiftly. However, Hobbs did squash his former friend at All Out in 2022 and bigger things lay ahead.

Instantly, effort was made to present the former Team Taz member as a superstar. A banging new theme song accompanied by a new entrance routine, which saw him gifted the middle entrance that was vacated by Cody Rhodes' defection to WWE. Hobbs, for all intents and purposes, was presented as a major deal.

Heading into Full Gear, Hobbs clashed with Samoa Joe and TNT Champion Wardlow in a big, meaty man collision, where he was choked out by Samoa Joe and then disappeared. Sure, we've had the 'Book of Hobbs' vignettes, but this wasn't so much as pouring cold water over the act but more like plunging him into an ice bath.

Since Full Gear in November, Hobbs had a one minute squash on the rapidly declining Rampage, before he was inexplicably brought back to win the 'Face of the Revolution' ladder match last week.
