10 Wrestlers Who Left WWE & Became World Class
2. Kenny Omega
There's very little to say about Kenny Omega that hasn't already been said a million times before. He's legitimately in contention for the title of the greatest professional wrestler of all time, is called 'The Best Bout Machine' for a reason - see: literally any Omega match since January 2017 - and is currently in possession of the World Championships of both IMPACT Wrestling and All Elite Wrestling, and the AAA Mega Championship.
Before all of this, though, the AEW EVP was a WWE developmental wrestler in Deep South Wrestling.
Signed there from October 2005 to August 2006, the run is merely a blight on Kenny's illustrious career. No one is going to remember his losses to Vladimir Kozlov, Eric Escobar, or Matt Striker from this time.
It was after this stint, however, that Omega adapted his persona following his training in Brazillian jiu-jitsu. That laid the groundwork for his strike-heavy style of wrestling that Omega perfected in New Japan. As beautiful and protected as the One-Winged Angel is, there is simply nothing like seeing 'The Belt Collector' knee the sh*t out of an opponent with the V-Trigger.
That WWE have approached Omega regarding re-signing with them on three separate occasions as recently as 2019 is proof that a) they know they made a mistake, and b) WWE truly isn't the be all and end all for professional wrestlers now.
